Sweet potato vs Kumara
Sorry mum, missed the comment, but I'll try explain now, even though Tiff has done a pretty good job. Rose has something to say on the subject, but I doubt either of us knows what it is. =P
So, Kumara vs Sweet potato, are they the same? Yes.
Try this Kumara site, and of course Wiki. Have a look around Wiki anyways Mum, its a great resource.
Interesting as well, our yams are these, American Yams are.....not. I miss our yams.

Helen Here
Sorry Ben, Kumara and sweet potato are two different things. They may be part of the same plant family but Kumara has a purple skin with whitish flesh. Sweet Potato on the other hand has a kind of orange skin with golden/orange flesh. Each of these veges has it's own particular and diferent taste.
Cheers
